2021 Syrah

Gorgeous fresh savory flavors of bay leaf, menthol, cherry pit, bergamot, black pepper, and cinder just scream "syrah"! Structurally, the wine has a pleasing weight from start to finish but is elevated by a steadily building brightness. Although this 2021 Syrah provides fruit-filled pleasure, what makes it memorable is its savory range of intriguing flavors. Syrah, at its best, should for sure be smile inducing but it also needs to captivate your intellect with a range of complex flavors and the 2021 Syrah achieves this beautifully.

  • Antonio Galloni Vinous: The 2021 Napa Valley Cabernets, Part One (Dec 2023) - Rating: 93

The 2021 Syrah, a blend of 40% estate and 60% purchased fruit, is packed with inky dark fruit, lavender, dried flowers, black pepper and mint. A touch of whole cluster savoriness and Viognier perfume give the 2021 tons of aromatic complexity. I would five this a year or two to come together. There's terrific freshness and verve here.

  • Jeb Dunnuck: Napa Valley’s 2021s and 2022s – Part 1 - Rating: 92

Ripe blackberries, bouquet garni, violets, and a kiss of olive and game all emerge from the 2021 Syrah. A medium-bodied, nicely balanced Syrah, it has supple tannins and benefits from air, so give bottles a short decant if drinking any time soon. It should easily evolve for at least a decade.
