2022 Vintner Select Chardonnay

The 2022 Vintner Select cuvee is high altitude chardonnay at its finest. Its aroma is a complex balance of grapefruit blossom, the nuanced spice of Baldwin apples, and crushed rock, all of which is punctuated by an enticing flourish of Kaffir lime. The first sip quickly reminds you that this fruit was raised on a mountain with enticing richness and beeswax nuance giving way to vibrant citrus and saline notes. The acidity provided by our cool marine-influenced afternoons is crucial in allowing this wine to have substantial depth while remaining fresh and uplifting.

  • Antonio Galloni Vinous: The 2021 Napa Valley Cabernets, Part One (Dec 2023) - Rating: 93

The 2022 Chardonnay Vintner Select is a classy, polished wine. White flowers, crushed rocks, mint, white pepper and dried herbs all race across the palate. Vibrant and steely, with terrific depth, the 2022 is terrific. There's a ton of saline energy here, notable for the year.

  • Jeb Dunnuck : Napa Valley’s 2021s and 2022s – Part 1 - Rating: 93

The 2022 Chardonnay Vintner Select brings more complexity, as well as a touch more density and depth on the palate. Honeyed lemon, ripe pineapple, spice, and chalky minerality all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, textured, has a good sense of acidity, and a great finish.

  • Robert Parker Wine Advocate: Jul 03, 2024 - Rating: 93

A bit more honeyed, riper and peachier than the Napa Valley bottling, Pride's 2022 Chardonnay Vintner Select still shows restrained oak and malolactic fermentation use, with just 10% new French oak and 30% of the wine undergoing malolactic fermentation. There's a pleasant hint of toasted almond on the nose, peach and mango fruit, a lush, generous feel on the medium to full-bodied palate, then a crisp, lemony finish.

There's a savory edge to the nose of this Chardonnay, as aromas of fresh herbs mingle with those of green pear and pithy citrus. The palate is fleshy and structured by the judicious use of oak, with whole-cluster pressing adding complexity to bold flavors of pear, pineapple and salted caramel. — Tom Capo
