Let the Sunshine In: The Roles of Terroir and Farming Strategy

Hike our mountaintop vineyards during the height of the growing season to explore how farming strategies and terroir each influence wine character and try your hand at some of the vineyard work, as you learn the essentials of canopy management. Led by Director of Winegrowing Steve Pride, you’ll also taste 2024 barrel samples from several distinct blocks of cabernet sauvignon to get a feel for the role of terroir on wine character.

This walk will be a total of two miles and will involve going up one steep slope and walking on gravel, loose soil and slippery grass. Hiking shoes or athletic shoes with heavy non-slip treads are a must as is sun protection; motorized transport will not be available, so please be prepared to walk if you register for this event.

A family-style lunch with a special selection of wines from the Pride family's cellar will wrap up the day.
