2002 Syrah

2002 Syrah

Deep, dark and juicy, this wine is a hedonist’s delight.  Notes of mocha and gunflint on the nose suck you in, accompanied by rich blue and black berry fruits, roasted meats, a touch of sage on the palate. Incredibly broad and rich, this wine is balanced by firm acidity and a beautifully broad tannin structure.  The finish goes on for days.

Good full ruby. Super ripe aromas of mocha, gunflint, minerals and roasted game. Sweet on entry, then aromatic and minerally, with vinous, lively flavors of dark fruits, dark chocolate and spices. Not thick but intensely flavored and juicy. Finishes long and slightly saline. A step up from the 2001 bottling, which showed more of a late harvest character.
